Coastal Scents: Prism Palette

Today I want to show you a very special palette. This is the Prism Palette of Coastal Scents and iwasmy first palette. Nowaday it has changed the name and you can find it as Orginal PaletteIn my adolescence it seemed cheap, complete and also, looking at it afterwards, is a brand that does not test on animals. The truth is that it has given a lot of game and has served me a lot, although today has been a little relegated by other palettes. But the truth is that to start and to experiment has been a good base.

To this day it seems to me a palette that is not even my bad: with so many colors there are some that pigment better than others. Obviously there are some directly bads while others are not bad at all. They mix both colors in matte and in brightness, which makes it quite complete. Also there are no excessively strident colors for what these pallets are usually and there is a good range of nudes.

Let's go with the swatches. Let's start from left to right of the photo above. These photos that you are going to see are made with base of eye shadow so that they were better appreciated the colors. It's the turn of the browns, first and second line.

Morados y azules, tercera y cuarta fila.
Purple and blue, third and fourth row.

Verdes y amarillos, quinta y sexta fila.
Greens and yellows, fifth and sixth line.

Rojos/naranjas y rosas, séptima y octava fila.
Reds/oranges and pinks, seventh and eighth line.

Rosas y nudes, novena y décima fila.
Pinks and nudes, ninth and tenth. These are the worst pigmentation as you can see.

Negro, grises y blancos.
Black, gray and white. Here directly there are colors that are not even appreciated because their pigmentation is null.

Nowaday it is a palette that I would not buy because the pigmentation of the shadows isn't good. Its ingredients are:

Talc, Mica, Mineral Oil, Kaolin, Titanium Dioxide, Magnesium Stearate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Lanolin, o-cymen-5-ol. May Contain: Mica and Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Ultramarine Blue, Manganese Violet, Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide, Chrome Oxide Greens, Chrome Hydroxide Green, FD&C Red No.40 Al Lake, FD&C Yellow No.5 Al Lake, FD&C Blue No.1 Al Lake.

Seeing more products of this brand gives me the impression that they are all alike although the prices are quite affordable and  this pallet cost me in its day about €14 when the change of euros to Dollars was more favorable and today costs $10.5. So what I said, to play and to start it may not be bad and obviously I have a lot of affection, but to this day I will not buy this brand nevermore.

Hello there!
Today's post is somewhat different, and as I said before, I wanted to tell you about my experience with the natural makeup products that I have tried so far.
I love natural cosmetics, that's not a secret at this point XD In fact practically everything I use both for facial care and for body and hair are natural products, but on the subject of makeup have been mistakes than successes. That  has been discouraging me until, in the end, I've always returned to the conventional brands.
Many of you in the other side of the screen are very much versed the subject and there are also many people to feel very curious about the "green world", so I hope this post to be useful (although I think this time, is could be more helping to me).
I have considered that the easiest way to do this is to go by parts, to see products of the same category each time,  telling you my experience with them, if I liked them or not and why. So lets go!

Rostro/ Face

As for foundations or Bb creams/ tinted moisturizers, I have not found one that I really liked. I have tried the four that you see in the image, all different from each other, but with a common facts: none has given me the expected result.
Alva's fluid foundation was in an empties post. The shade is perfect, but, despite having an acceptable texture, I found it extremely difficult to apply with a uniform result, and it was patching right away.
The Sublime foundation by Puro Bio was definetly not for my skin. In the package, it says "fluid foundation" but it is more like a very thick cream, almost a mousse, something that for my skin is not comfortable at all, so after trying it a couple of times with it, it finally went away with a new owner who could take advantage of it.
As I like fluid and light textures, I decided to try it with tinted moisturizers, so I did with the Physicians Formula organic wear. In this case, despite its light texture and good ingredients, the problem was the shade, the lightest of them was  too dark for me.
When Lily Lolo's Bb cream went on sale,  everything I read about her was wonderful, so when they came out with the "fair" shade I inmediately bought it. The first contact was very good, the shade was perfect and left me a natural finish ... Buuuuut(this "but" hurts me especially) within two hours of wearing it It had cracked my skin and caused me bad breakouts, so...again, not for me.

Foundations and BB creams Conclusion : I have not found mine, but I want to keep trying. The difficulty of finding a suitable texture is added to the shade one, I would like to try for 100percent pure foundation and Inika's Bb cream, both natural and vegan options.

About concealers, I have tried three, all of them suitable for vegans: Puro Bio, which comes in pencil format and was too dry for my skin, so I can not say much more. I also tried a concealer from Terra Bio, which came in the same format of lipsticks, this was also a bit dry, but mostly too thick. On the other hand, the Lavera liquid concealer, in the same format as the catrice concealerss that have been my favorite ones so far. I liked it, although in the undereye there was something that did not convince me, over time I found out that what I do not like is to use concealer in that area, unless it is for something very concrete like photos or similar, but for small derness or marks it's an option that I might consider using again.

Concealers conclusions: , since its texture is the most comfortable and indicated for my skin type. I want to try others, such as 100% pure (which I already got!) or Pacifica, I think in this section, it will be relatively easy to stay with the natural option.

In the section of loose powders, I have tested the mineral powder foundations from Oceanmist cosmetics and Lily Lolo. Both worked very well and I would repeat with them, both to use as finishing powders as well as by itself. I emphasize the shade "porcelain" of the Lily Lolo foundation.
As for compact powders, I have used some that I did not like because they were be too dry, like those from Boho Cosmetics, and those that have been my favorites for years: Honeybee Gardens in the shade "Gheisha" (review here).

Powders Conclusions: The compact Honeybee Gardens are my favorites and I always repurchase them. As loose powders I have also found very good options, especially those of Lily Lolo that are easier to buy in Spain, so this section I consider a success.

I have tried loose mineral blushes, but it is a format that just didn't work for me, so I decided to continue with the compact ones, of which I have tried two.
Avril's "rose nacré" I loved at first, for its subtile rossy shade, but over time It lost almost all its pigmentation. In spite of its good price, it contains talc in its formulation and, if I try to avoid toxic ingredients, the talc is also in the list, since finding it in a conventional blush is quite normal, but in a cleaner one I would prefer that it was not. I also tried one from Boho Cosmetics, the shade was beautiful and pigmented a lot, but it was excessively dusty. It also contains talc.

Blushes conclusion: I'm sure there are 100% natural blushes with no toxic ingredients or animal derivated ones (such as carmine) that pigment wonders and although for now I will not buy any because I want to finish some of the ones I have, I am especially tempted by the blushes from  Honeybee Gardens and 100% pure.

Labios:

As far as lip makeup is concerned I have not researched too much, since I mostly use longlasting liquid lipsticks, it seems to me that all the others have a very short duration, but I am determined to investigate further. So far I tried a lipstick from Boho Cosmetics, in the shade "Capuccine", which I loved and would have bought other shades of the brand, but I didn't because I found out they contain carmine. About the lipstick "Just red" from Benecos I did a review that I leave you here. In my opinion it is more a balm with a bit of color, besides the beeswax and I do not get along. It also contains lanolin, so it is not suitable for vegans.
Bellapierre's "Ruby" lipstick is a gorgeous shining red hue and smells wonderful. Surprisingly, despite carrying some beeswax in its formulation, I have not noticed any strange feeling with it, I imagine due to its low concentration.
The big surprise was the "Red" pencil by Annemarie Borlind, a matte red tshade with good durability and no animal ingredients. To this day I do not consider the lip liner necessary in my makeup collection, but if I thought about buying any, I would repeat with this one.

Lipsticks conclusions: I have to investigate and in fact I have already been seeing some totally natural and vegan options, so at some point I will have to try, although in this section I would especially appreciate if you know some that are also highly pigmented and durable.

Ojos:

The subject of eye makeup is also a delicate point, I mean: I have sensitive eyes, I wear contact lenses and I like my eyeliner and mascara to last me all day. Not to mention the shadows, which are one of my great vices (I' have it under control now, I promise!) and I'm very demanding with them.
As a mascara and eyeliner I have tried those of the Physicians Formula"eye booster" kit, although they are not completely natural, I think. I did not like the mascara, and the eyeliner...well  I like it but my weakness is the Kat Von D beauty Tatoo Liner and despite what i've read a few times, I have to say No, they're not the same. I also tried long ago the mascara of Boho Cosmetics that, although it made my lashes look very beautiful and natural, a lot of product came out and I spent more time removing the excess that applying the product, reason why I was not completed convinced.
As far as primer is concerned, I tried Puro Bio eye primer and I was not happy with it, because it gave me an orange color to the eyelid and did not make the shadows last longer or were more intense, so I have to keep searching for any options.
I also tested (I think of the first products I tested from this post) the Benecos eyebrow pencil which, in addition to being very dry, was very dark and warm for my eyebrows.

In terms of shadows I tried a little bit of everything (but not enough, obviously), like shadows in cream I tried a couple of jumbos from Puro Bio that I could not get much of because a few months after having started to smell suspiciously rare. I also tried the Supernatural trio from Pacifica,  I told you about here. The colors are beautiful, but throughout this year I have realized that cream eyeshadows are not my thing. But if you like the shades in cream, you will like it. From the same brand I tried the Enlighten palette , which I also reviewed here. Half of the shadows pigmented very well and in fact I finished them, but the other two were much drier. As I said before, if you look for subtle colors you will get more out of it than I did.
As for palettes, Lily Lolo Smoke 'n' Mirrors has been my most remarkable disappointment of recent times. I reviewed it here, but to sum up ... expensive for what it is: little pigmentation and null duration, was an absolute fail in my search for natural shadows and I'm sorry for my words, bit I have to be honest with you.
Nothing like the individual shadows of the same brand, I had the Ivory Tower tshade, which I finished recently and I liked it a lot, despite being dusty it had a good pigmentation.
I could also try some loose shade of Boho Cosmetics and, the tone was beautiful, plus it was not very dusty.
In this area the absolute winners are the Concrete Minerals loose eyeshadows, a brand of affordable vegan mineral makeup. It offers colors from the most discreet to the most intense, and both Eve and I have a few. Review here.

Eyes conclusion: no doubt here is a lot of products to try in thissubject, I would love to find a vegan and natural mascara that works for me (I have already been looking for options), and an eyelineras good as the Tatoo Liner ,  (dreaming is free XD) and intense, pigmented and durable eyeshadows. For now I do not think about buying any eye shadows because I have many and I'm trying to reduce the collection, so I have not been looking ... yet.

As you see I have tried a little of each category, but except for a couple of exceptions, I have not found my perfect products. The fact is, I recently talked about this with my partner and best adviser, Eve, and I came to a couple of conclusions:
1st: I've tried the brands I had more easy to buy and without much research before buying.
2nd: I have gone with some mistrust and therefore I did not want to invest money (except on one occasion and Ii didn't went very well).
Both things have done that most products I've tried either did not cover my needs, or did not have the quality I ask for makeup. So, after the frustration of not having found those products clean of toxic ingredients or derived from animals, and after getting rid of much of my makeup collection a couple of times, now I go more carefully and looking for more information. To this also helped when I decided to become serious about the fact of thinking a lot on what I buy, since I have eliminated the "collecting" factor and I want to have a smaller and more manageable collection.

For all this, the idea of making this entry was a turning point for me; I mean, a way of doing a balance and thinking: well, this has been so far, it has not gone quite well. But when I think about it, yes, I would like all the makeup in my collection to be 100% natural and vegan ( or mostly) but without forgetting aboit the quallity, although I think it is very difficult and, if I do, I know it will take me a looooong time, since I am currently in a mode of not buying more that to replenish what I am finishing, I am ready to continue trying, for this I am reading many reviews and investigating about ingredients.

If you have read this far, thank you very much, because it has been a very long post, but I considered it necessary and I did not want to leave anything unsaid. I hope you have found it useful or, at least, curious. And if you usually use makeup of these characteristics, I 'd appreciate your recommendations.
There are some specific brands and products that I would like to try and I do not know whether to make a "green wish list" post, what do you think about the idea?

Sierra Bees: Shea butter and argan oil lip balm

Good morning!
Today I want to talk about the one of the last labial balms of Sierra Bees. I hope you are enjoying the tour as much as I am. Today it is the turn of shea butter and argan oil. With winter and cold my lips suffer a lot and I always have to carry one of these. In addition, this in particular already appeared in our review of finished products last month so let's see it:

Along with other of the balms we have seen, this is one of the most moisturizing but without becoming as creamy as, for example, that of cocoa butter. It is soft and slips quite well through the lip. The smell is quite pleasant, without being too strong as with all the products of this brand. In the next review, which will contain the last lip balm of the pack, I will make a list of greater to lesser hydration with all of them tested. You can find the ingredients in the picture below.

You know that you can find this and another 7 lip balms on iHerb.

Colourpop: "lippie stix"

In our compilation of 2016 favorites we mentioned the Copourpop Lippie Stix, which, even if they're not of pro quallity, we like for its price, size, and variety of shades, so we thought it was a good idea to show you all the ones we both own..

The Lippie stix are lipsticks in a bar format, whose price is 5$, which is quite good to try them out. Each lipstick contains 1 gram of product, which is little in relation to other brands lipsticks, but that is precisely why we think it is a good idea when trying different colors, since they do not last forever.
They are available in several different finishes: pearlized, crème, matte, matte X, sheer and glossy, but as the matte lovers we are, we only have ones from the matte and matte X (this range is veen more matte than the other one) ranges. Then we're showing you all the shades.

LUMIERE (Medussa):

Mate.
Matte. One of their bestsellers, created in collabotarion with Kathleen Lights. It's dusty mauve pink, perfect for natural looks.

DAYDREAM (Eve):

Matte X.
Matte X. Plummy brown. Cooler shade than the other browns.

ZIGGIE (Eve):

Matte X.
Marrón terracota oscuro. Un tono cálido e intenso.
Matte X. Dark terracota. Warm and intense.

GRIND (Medussa):

Matte.
Matte. The fisrt one in our collection, in fact, at the moment of publushing this post, ist's not with us anymore. Is doesn't appear on their website anymore. Intense purple/ fuchsia shade. Not for shy days.

LBB (Medussa):

Matte.
Matte. Created in collab with blogger LittleBlackBoots. They defined it as a rich plum wine and we agree. It's a very special shade of red.

GRUNGE (Eve):

Matte.
Marrón cálido de tono medio.
Matte. Mid-toned red brown.

BACK UP (Medussa):

Matte X.
Matte X. Cool toned violet. One of the shades that look great on fair skins.

LEATHER(Medussa):

Matte.
Violeta intenso.
Matte. Deep Violet.

NEVERMIND (Medussa):

Matte.
Morado muy oscuro.
Matte. Deep purple.

BULL CHIC (Medussa& Eve):

Matte.
Matte. Just black. We wanted to try, but we weren't on the mood of spending 20$ in a black lipstick, so we took this one.

The lighter and neutral shades give the best results, as "lumiere", which remains perfectly uniform. The darker shades, especially the purples "leather" and "nevermind" are a bit more complicated, since it is quite difficult they set an uniform color and we need to insist a lot, so we recommend the reds and nudes more than the darker ones.

¿Habéis probado los Lippie Stix?

Jeffre Star: Unicorn Blood

Good morning!
Today we want to talk about one of the classics of Jeffree Star: his lipstick Unicorn Blood. Perhaps it is the best known of all the Velor liquid lipsticks even more than pinks that characterize him. Medussa tested the first product of the brand when bought the Beauty Killer palette and this is the but next but not the last. We were very curious to test the liquid lipsticks to compare with similar ones like Kat Von D or Kylie Cosmetics' so here there are the conclusions:

The Velor Liquid Lipstick cames in a 5.6 ml./0,19 fl. oz pot compared to 6.6 ml./0,22 fl. oz Kat Von D's, 3.25 ml./0,11 fl. oz. Kylie cosmetics' or 3.2 g./0,1128 oz. by Colourpop. It is small for this reason is easier to save because has a similar appearance to the bar lipstick. One of the things that most souprised me to open the lipstick, is that it has a very strong smell like cherry caramel. It is a smell that I love because I am not used to use lipstick which smell is so good, so it's a detail that makes the product even more special.

The shape of the wand is different from other lipsticks because it is not completely round but a cross section allows a complete adaptation on lip. This makes the application very easy and we can go over the outer lip area which is always a little bit more complicated. In addition, this shape allows that a lot of the product remains in the application area, which allows cover more in a single pass. It is one of the things that I liked the most and the truth is that it is quite useful.

The color is just lovely. Is a garnet red very intense but that does not tend to other colors. You can see the comparison with the Vampira of Kat Von D and Leo of Kylie Cosmetics in our Instagram (@ medusseando) In there you can see that they aren't similars. I find it an incredible color and it looks spectacular. As for duration is at the same time as other liquid lipsticks but this, as it happens with those of Kat Von D, do not dry the lips and allows us to carry it during the day without barely touching it and without feeling that our lips are diying.

After having tried similar products I make a list from the most to the less favourite liquid lipsticks:

- Kat Von D
- Jeffree Star
- Kylie Cosmetics
- Colourpop

As you said in one of the comments, this kind of product also goes according to our type of lips and was right. So keep in mind that it is a list made from a dry lips point of view. You can find it on Jeffree Star's website for 18$

Rostro/ Face

-Dermik (Mercadona), micellar water (Medussa):
Bought at a time of urgency, has not stood out for good or bad, is correct, nothing else. Will we use it again? Maybe, if we see ourselves in the same need.

-Arganoil Cosmetics, Argan old 24K (Medussa & Eve):
¿Repetimos? No.
Review here. Despite we both love argan oil, there is something that has not yet convinced us with its continuous use. Will we use it again? No.

-Antipodes," Joyous night replenishing serum" (Eve):
¿Repetimos? No.
Review here. With the time its smell changed and then went back to normal again. Will we use it again? No.

-Sierra Bees, "organic Shea Butter and Argan oil" lip balm (Eve):
¿Repetimos? Sí.
The lip balm of shea butter and argan oil is the most moisturising of the whole pack and I love it. It smells great too. Will we use it again? Yes.

-Lush "Cup of coffee"(Medussa):
¿Repetimos? No.
I really wanted to try this coffe based cleansing mask, but the truth is that I have not been anything spectacular. Will we use it again? No.

 Cuerpo/ Body

-Lush, "Rub rub rub" (Eve):
¿Repetimos? Sí.
Review hereIt is one of my favorite body scrubs and it is that leaves a soft skin ready for a good moisturisingWill we use it again? Yes.

-Lush, "Ro's Argan" body conditioner (Eve):
¿Repetimos? Hasta que esté libre de parabenos no.
Please Lush, take off the parabens to this wonderful product. Please... Review here. Will we use it again? Until they eliminate the parabens no.

-Seacret, body lotion (Eve):
¿Repetimos? No.
I told you how I bought it here. It is neither good nor bad, simply another worn body cream. Will we use it again? No.

-Lush, "Snow fairy" body conditioner (Medussa):
¿Repetimos? No.
The best selling Lush gel made body conditioner. It leaves the skin very moisturized, but the smell does not last. Will we use it again? No.

-Tom's of maine, apricot deodorant (Medussa):
¿Repetimos? Sí.
We showed you in our iherb favorites post. It lasts, works and it is 100% natural, it is the best one that I have tried so far. Will we use it again? Yes.

 Maquillaje/ Makeup

-Urban Decay, "Naked Skin" foundation (Medussa):
¿Repetimos? Sí.
Review here. It's been my favorite foundation for three years, so there's nothing more I can say. Will we use it again? Yes.

-Stage Line, "Silk veil" (Eve):
¿Repetimos? No.
It was not a bad product but when you put it on the face the feeling is like if it were liquid plastic. The feeling did not last long but I didn't like it. Will we use it again? No.

-Physicians Formula, "Eye Booster" eyeliner (Medussa):
Also in our iherb favorites, but the truth is that, although it is a good option given its price, in my opinion does not exceed nor equals the Tatoo Liner by Kat Von D. Do we repeat? Not at the moment, but it's not completelly  discarded.

-Stage Line, waterproof liner black (Eve):
The truth is that I liked it: it is soft and pretty well pigmented. In addition to being waterproof was enduring enough on eyes. Review hereWill we use it again? At the moment not because the one of Catrice follows in the first place, but I do not discard it.

-Mary Kay, Ultimate Mascara (Eve):
¿Repetimos? No.
Another eyelash mask that does not get anything from my eyelashes. Will we use it again? No.

-Burlesque, foundation brush (Eve):
¿Repetimos? No.
I do not know what happened to this brush because Medussa has exactly the same for longer and it's perfect. Mine has sunk and leaves my face full of hair. It gives me a lot of anger because it was a gift from her but I could not use it anymore. Will we use it again? No.

-Nyx, "Taupe" blush (Medussa):
¿Repetimos? No.
On my project pan for months, I've used it as a contour, blush and even as an eyeshadow a couple of times. Sadly, the new one is not exactly the same shade. Will we use it again? No.

-Honeybee Gardens, "Geisha" mineral powder (Medussa):
Tenéis su reseña aquí. Unos de mis dos polvos favoritos. ¿Repetimos? Sí.
Review here. One of my two favourite face powders.  Will we use it again? Yes.

-Colourpop, "Bill" & "Cop A feel" eyeshadows (Medussa):
¿Repetimos? No.
I told you about my disappointment with the Colourpop eyeshadows  in our post of 2016 disappointments. I wish I could be more diplomatic, but they are horrible. They don't lasts, are difficult to work  and they dry faster than I could imagine.  Will we use it again? No.

-Sleek, "Oh So Special" eye palette (Eve):
¿Repetimos? No, hemos encontrado productos mucho mejores.
Finally! Review here. What memories to see it almost new, but the truth is that I am glad to have done this #projectpan throughout the year and say goodbye in this way. Of course, today I look at the INCI and because of the parabens and paraffin I prefer another palettes. Do we repeat? No, we have found much better products.

-KIKO, "Smart lipstick" 915 Mauve (Eve):
¿Repetimos? No
In KIKO they define it as a nutritious lipstick and I hope that something made because I lasted 5 minutes on the lips, doing nothing. And I had to squeeze enough to let it color. I don't ask for a duration of 12 hours, but something more than a few minutes would have been fine. Will we use it again? No.
¿Coincidimos en algo?
